Spring Alumni Dinner

On April 14, 2005, the Alumni Board will host the Ninth Annual Spring Alumni Dinner. This year, we are extremely pleased to honor Stephen T. Jurvetson ’85, as our Distinguished Alumnus. The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes achievement of exceptional nature in any field, vocational or voluntary, covering an entire career. It is given to no more than one person each year and has been given sparingly. This year, Mr. Jurvetson will join an elite group of previous recipients including P. O'B. Montgomery ’38, Samuel W. Papert, Jr. ’37, Ray L. Hunt ’61, Tommy Lee Jones ’65, Carl Sewell ’61, Robert K. Hoffman ’65, Michael Levy ’64, William Clarkson IV ’66, Robert W. Decherd ’69, and most recently, H. Ross Perot, Jr., ’77.

The program for the night will also recognize Mr. Michael J. Bennett for 40 years of service to the school. Two other important annual recognitions take place at the Spring Alumni Dinner: the announcement of the three finalists for the Ralph B. Rogers Alumni Award and the presentation of the two Alumni Service Awards.

The Ralph B. Rogers Award for Excellence in Teaching recognizes faculty and staff for pioneering contributions to the school community in academic and extracurricular areas that go above and beyond the confines of their job descriptions. Following nominations received from parents, students, and fellow faculty members, the Alumni Awards committee is hard at work reviewing nominations, conducting interviews on nominees, and narrowing down the nominee list to the three finalists.

The Young Alumni Service Citation recognizes alumni up to their 15th Reunion for outstanding service to St. Mark’s and notable achievements in promoting the school through volunteer support.

The Alumni Service Medal is St. Mark’s highest volunteer service award, and is presented to the alumnus who has distinguished himself through sustained and outstanding service and commitment to the school, demonstrating an extraordinary level of dedication and passion.

Mark your calendars and plan to attend this year’s festivities. Ticket prices have been reduced to $30 per person for our younger alumni (1990-2004 graduates) and $50 per person for all others. Further details on the dinner and honorees will be coming soon!
