The St. Mark’s JV hockey team beat Richardson 4-0 in a match for sole possession of first place. Flying from the drop of the puck, the Lions exhibited their best team effort of the season. When the game ended, the Lions truly controlled the game out shooting the previously undefeated opponents by 32-15.

The St. Mark’s Lions battled through 3 games to win the 2007 Texas Star Fall Festival Hockey Tournament for the JV Silver division. The two day tournament is a pre-season showcase with high school teams from all over the Metroplex. The Lions were more than up for the task.

This past weekend St. Mark's Crew took three boats up to the Central Youth Rowing Championships in Oklahoma City. The Central District includes crews from Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Louisiana. Only the two top boats in each event advance to the USRowing Youth National Championships.

During SPC weekend (February 9-10), the St. Mark’s winter sports teams wrapped up the conference season by bringing home three of the four boys' championships - in basketball, swimming and wrestling. The soccer team finished a very successful season in fourth place of a very competitive tournament.

After several months of very busy construction, St. Mark’s is preparing to open a new Stadium with a synthetic, all-weather field and an expanded eight-lane track. Also included in this project are a new soccer and lacrosse field immediately to the east of the Stadium as well as a new baseball facility on the northeast corner of the athletic fields.

St. Mark’s senior Charlie Wilson was named to the 2004 All-Area Water Polo Team, as well as named Boys Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning News. A leader on this year’s TISCA North Zone Championship team, Wilson scored nearly 80 goals in route to the team’s 19-4 overall season record. Wilson was also named North Zone Most Valuable Player, as well as Honorable Mention on the All-State team. Joining Charlie with the honor of being named to the All-Area team were Sumpter Smartt ’05, David Newell ’07, Matthew Perkins ’07, and Michael Shashoua ’08. Congratulations to each of these athletes on this honor.

This weekend the young St. Mark's Lions Varsity Volleyball team went to Houston and played in the EHS Volleyball Zone Tournament. After five matches, the Lions finished undefeated against some very good competition. St. Mark's seniors Matt Feldman and Eric Lu led the team with some valuable contributions from the many underclassman on the team. The Lions finishied with the best record of the teams in the tournament and Matt Feldman earned All-Tournament honors. The Lions will travel to play FWCD on Tuesday, Sept. 14th.

Kalen Thornton, Class of 2000, a standout defensive end at St. Mark’s and at the University of Texas, recently became a member of the famed Dallas Cowboys football franchise, earning a spot on their 54 man roster for the 2004-05 season.

The Varsity Volleyball team defeated Ft. Worth Country Day 3 games to 2 on 9/3 to open the season. The team led by seniors Jacque Finn and Ethan Whiddon controlled an equally talented Country Day team for the victory.

SM traveled to FWCD for its last regular season game of the 2003 season, in a tune-up game for the SPC tournament. The Lions posted a 5-1 victory to end the regular season with an impressive 19-6 record.

The varsity squad traveled to Tulsa, OK for the second straight weekend to play two SPC north zone counter games against Casady and Holland Hall. The Lions lost the first game 5-3 to Casady, and then took out their frustrations in a 12-4 thrashing of Holland Hall.

Having been ranked the #1 private school baseball team in the area by the DMN on the day before, SM travelled across town to battle the Hornets of Greenhill. The Lion nine easily defeated the Hornets by a score that seems more appropriate to football than baseball -- 14-0.
